Salome Henerico Samson<\/h3>\n

Class of 2022, Tanzania<\/h4>\n

As a student, Salome’s future goal was to explore the complexities of Tanzania’s agricultural systems, especially the agroforestry industry, something she has been invested in since childhood. After she graduated from EARTH, Salome began working for the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania as part of her fellowship in the Mastercard Foundation – EARTH University Fellowship Program. IITA is an institution that is making significant investment in research activities in efforts to increase food security and food safety, reduce rural poverty and undernutrition, and promote more sustainable management of natural resources. Class of 2024, Costa Rica<\/h4>\n

On Wednesday and Saturday mornings, students at our University split up across the various academic farms of the Gu\u00e1cimo Campus to attend the Work Experience course, where they put into practice the knowledge acquired in each course in real-life contexts. On these days, Sergio Gonz\u00e1lez hops on his bike and heads to the Botanical Garden, where he leads one of the 19 scenarios that are part of the course. There, he prepares the day’s tasks to care of the bees that live in the Garden and the Didactic Apiary. Colombian Alumni Association<\/h3>\n

In a remote corner of Colombia, where opportunities are scarce and many rural youth dream of fleeing to the city for personal and professional growth, members of the EARTH Alumni Association (AGEARTH) in Colombia have started a project called Seedbed of Rural Youth Entrepreneurs (Semillero de J\u00f3venes Rurales Emprendedores). This initiative aims to reduce mass migration to cities and, in turn, transform the perception of the rural areas, awakening in young people a renewed love for the land and agriculture.
